American Bath Group (ABG), a leading manufacturer of bathware products, collaborated with Konabos to address the challenge of showcasing their vast product catalog in physical retail stores. By launching an innovative in-store kiosk system, Konabos enabled ABG to improve customer engagement and streamline the sales process. The interactive kiosks not only enhanced the shopping experience but also provided real-time insights for improving store offerings. The solution earned ABG recognition as a leader in digital retail innovation, highlighted by winning the MACH Alliance’s 'Best Overall Change Project 2023' award.

Challenges

American Bath Group (ABG) faced a major challenge in showcasing over 50,000 products across seven brands in physical stores. The extensive catalog made it difficult for customers to explore the full range of products, creating a need for an interactive, in-store solution. ABG required a system that would allow customers to easily browse, customize, and engage with their product offerings without overwhelming the store environment. Additionally, the solution needed to be scalable, secure, and capable of streamlining operational efficiency while providing valuable insights for store managers.

Our Approach

Konabos addressed ABG’s challenges by implementing a comprehensive interactive kiosk experience, powered by Kontent.ai for content management and supported by a robust data integration strategy. The approach focused on standardizing product attributes across ABG’s seven brands to enhance data reuse and reduce operational costs. We designed a native kiosk interface for smooth, intuitive navigation, allowing customers to easily browse and customize products. A Composable CMS architecture provided flexibility in content delivery and system scalability.  


Through an iterative design and development process, we ensured the solution catered to both customers and store managers, fostering collaboration and meeting all user needs. The final result was a customer-centric, highly efficient kiosk system that simplified product discovery and streamlined inventory management.

Results

The implementation of the interactive kiosk transformed ABG’s in-store experience and delivered significant business outcomes. Development costs were reduced by 60%, making the solution more sustainable and affordable. There was also an 80% faster time-to-market for launching new content and products, and a 31% increase in store leads, driving greater customer engagement and sales growth.


This project greatly improved customer engagement, provided store-specific customization, and contributed to better store management, ultimately earning ABG the MACH Alliance’s "Best Overall Change Project 2023" award for its digital retail innovation.
